Stay safe first
- If anyone is in danger, there is a fire, gas smell, or medical emergency, call 911 first.
- For sparking outlets, burning smells, or smoke, shut off the affected circuit at the panel if it is safe to do so.
- For active flooding or a major leak, shut off the water supply and keep people clear of standing water near electrical equipment.
- Do not touch downed or exposed wiring — keep people and pets away until a licensed pro arrives.
